Welcome to Welding Technology

My name is Travis Leake. I have been in the welding field for 10 years and counting. My obsession with welding began at a young age as I had to make repairs to my race car. As I encountered my junior year in high school in 2004, I had the great opportunity to take welding at my local career center just like you all do. I took full advantage of this opportunity and learned as much as possible during my junior year. Over the summer of my junior year and throughout my senior year I took a co-op at a high end dirt late model racing team. There I fabricated and welded the entire bolt on accessories along with fabricating all the sheet metal work.

Shortly after high school I encountered the option to work for Phoenix Racing. This was a full time Nationwide team and part time NASCAR team. With my ability to weld and fabricate at high end levels I climbed the ladder there quickly and became not only a welder/fabricator, but the lead man for the special fab department at a very young age. I then left there after 3 years and moved to team Red Bull in Mooresville, NC. There I was a body hanger and welder/fabricator along with keeping the parts room fully stocked. I am still currently part time with a local Spartanburg based Xfinity series driver and team welding and fabricating. I have worked with great companies and very high end cliental such as Mike Wallace, Johnny Sauter, Jason Keller, Reed Sorenson, Max Papis, Aj Allmendinger, Brian Vickers, Scott Speed, and Jeremy Clements just to name a few.

My military/tactical experience is very well also. I worked with a company for 7 years working with all types of exotic materials including 4130 Chromalloy, ballistic steel, A572, A514, and numerous other hardened metals. I am also very experienced with all types of stainless and aluminum, press brakes, sheers, iron workers, shrinker and stretchers, English wheels, planishing hammers, tubing benders, manual lathe and mills, and so on. The tolerances for this company were an unbelievable +/- .030” after welded and fabricated.

I am a native South Carolinian and have a beautiful wife and 2 little girls. My hobbies when I’m not spending time with them are going to the lake, fishing, hunting, and racing my own dirt late model.
