Welcome to Programming & Game Design

With seven years of teaching experience at the Anderson 1 & 2 Career & Technology Center (ACTC), I am passionate about helping students discover the power of technology, programming, and creativity through hands-on learning.

I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems with an emphasis in Software Development, along with minors in Cybersecurity and Professional Writing. Before entering education, I worked in several areas of the technology field, including IT security, web development, and computer support services. Those real-world experiences allow me to bring industry connections and practical applications directly into the classroom.

As the instructor for the Programming & Game Design pathway, I teach students skills in Python, Java, and C# programming while encouraging problem-solving, teamwork, creativity, and perseverance. Students in the pathway progress from foundational programming concepts to advanced software development and game creation using the Unity engine.

I believe students learn best by building, experimenting, debugging, and creating. My classroom emphasizes hands-on projects, collaboration, critical thinking, and real-world application over memorization alone. I encourage students to take ownership of their learning, embrace challenges, and understand that mistakes are a natural part of the problem-solving process.

Whether students plan to pursue computer science, engineering, game development, cybersecurity, business, or another path entirely, my goal is to help them develop confidence, adaptability, and a strong foundation in computational thinking. Above all, I want students to leave my classroom understanding that programming is more than just writing code — it is learning how to think critically, solve problems, and create something meaningful.

Outside the classroom, I value the creative and responsible use of technology alongside enjoying hands-on hobbies such as woodworking and stone carving. I am also an Adult Fan of LEGO (AFOL), a lifelong Pac-Man and Superman fan, and a proud Tennessee Volunteers supporter.
