Welcome to Media Broadcasting

Hello, and welcome to Media Broadcasting.  My name is John Boone and I am in my 14th year teaching here at ACTC and am as excited as ever to make our Media Broadcasting program the best it can be! I teach the audio side of the course, which includes the student-run radio station WPPB The Pulse which was named Best High School Station in the nation in 2023, as well as in 2018 and 2019 by the Intercollegiate Broadcasting System. You can hear it at www.mypulseradio.com and on your mobile devices with the free TuneIn radio app! We also delve into podcasting, voiceover/voice acting, live and streaming audio, sound for film and video games, and the latest audio trends.

I received a BS in Radio and Television from Bob Jones University and a Master's in Education (Curriculum & Instruction/eLearning and Technology Education) from Concordia University.  I have worked in radio, television and print media for more than 25 years from my home state of New Jersey to South Carolina to south Florida then back here to SC.

My teaching certification is in Media Technology and I’m proud to have started Media programs in two private schools in Florida before coming here. The part I enjoy most about teaching is helping to unlock the creativity within students. Every student is different, and seeing them all discover what they have to offer the world and then being able to teach them how to channel that through media is a very cool thing.

Outside of school life, I love dogs - our family breeds golden retrievers - and I love adventures, whether it's going out for dinner, movie or concert, hiking, camping, or traveling across the country.
