Law Enforcement   

Law Enforcement is designed for students who are interested in law enforcement as a career or in one of the many related fields, which include juvenile justice, probation and parole, corrections, forensics, dispatch, security, federal law enforcement and military police.   

The sophomore class will be introduced to several “hands on” practical skills, such as handcuffing, baton tactics, and defensive tactics. They will also be introduced to different law enforcement agencies, the history of law enforcement, ethics, and how police communicate on radio, and other basic police operations.    

Juniors will complete hands-on training in traffic stops, advanced handcuffing, knife defense, and advanced defensive tactics. They will also learn about criminal law, court procedure, constitutional law, state law, juvenile law, DUI and sobriety tests, gangs, and criminal court procedures.  

Seniors will complete hands-on training in high risk traffic stops, transport procedures, vehicle searches, weapon retention and disarming, photographing, crime scene sketching, fingerprinting, and collecting evidence. They will also learn about Miranda warnings, searches, arrest and search warrants, responding to critical incidents, oleoresin capsicum, and police officer liability.  

Seniors will also have the opportunity to gain national certifications in the IAED Emergency Telecommunications Course and in the IFPO Certified Protection Officer Program. They will also have the opportunity to be certified in First Aid/CPR/AED and Stop the Bleed.
