Introduction to Health Science
Introduction to Health Science is a sophomore level course designed to introduce students to the various aspects of the health care field. It serves as the foundation for Health Science, introducing students to topics such as the history of the medical profession, safety, infection control and the various jobs available in health care.
An important aspect of this course is a career portfolio. Students will choose a health care career they are interested in pursuing and research the career. Students will develop a career portfolio based on their research.
Students will also learn Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), an emergency skill that can greatly increase the odds of survival after someone's heart has stopped beating and they have stopped breathing.
