Welcome to Culinary Arts

Hello, my name is Chris Moree.  I began my career in foodservice as a dishwasher in a doughnut shop at age 14.  Shortly after that I worked as a server for several years, often helping out in the kitchen when needed.  I never gave a lasting career in restaurants much thought until I was looking for a career change in my early 20s.

I decided to sell everything I owned and move to San Francisco to attend the California Culinary Academy in 2003.  It was a fantastic experience and I was fortunate enough to work in Italy for a while.  I worked at the Michelin starred Rossellini’s in Ravello, Italy for 3 months for my required externship.

Upon returning to California, I earned a position at Acquerello, a fine dining Italian restaurant.  I moved to Greenville in 2005 and was hired as the sous chef of the Commerce Club.  In 2007 I began teaching, took a short break, and assumed responsibilities for the culinary program at ACTC in 2010.  I have particularly enjoyed watching students earn scholarships and go on to culinary school. Our competition teams have won 11 of the last 12 state championships and have placed as high as 2nd nationally over the years.

In my down time, I enjoy reading, sports, and spending time with my wife and two sons.
