Service Learning

Students Making a Difference

Service Learning is a School-to-Careers option which allows students to learn and develop workplace skills and behaviors through participation in service experiences that meet actual community needs.

Service projects are coordinated with the school and community so that the student applies classroom skills and knowledge in real-life situations.  Students experience personal reward and enjoyment, develop concern for others, and network with community leaders while completing work projects which benefit the community.

ACTC students are given the opportunity to participate in numerous service learning activities throughout the school year from teaching fire prevention and safety to elementary students, working with special needs students at the Special Olympic Games, and visiting with elderly residents at local nursing homes.

ACTC students are truly making a difference in their community.  During the 2017-2018 school year over 600 students participated in a service learning project.
