    Introduction to Firefighting is a semester long sophomore level class that teaches students the basics of firefighting including history, traditions, personal protective equipment, and some basic skills. 
     
    The class is hands-on and physically demanding.  Students learn to work in full turnout gear that weighs approximately 75 pounds.  Students also take the CPR/First Aid/AED course through the American Red Cross during semester.
